Dr. Keri Wynn

Dr. Keri Wynn

Perhaps no one is prouder and more pleased that Dr. Keri Wynn became a veterinarian than her grandfather.

“I grew up around my Pap’s small horse farm in southeastern Kentucky. He instilled in me my love of animals. He was never a veterinarian but always wanted to be. I think my becoming a veterinarian, in a way, partially made his dream come true.”

Dr. Wynn grew up in Middlesboro on the Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia borders. “We had all sorts of animals,” she says, “from horses to goats to dogs and peacocks. I even had a pet raccoon. Angel was my favorite childhood dog, along with a cat named George and a goat named Susie Q.”

“I learned early on that watching how someone treats animals is usually a pretty good litmus test of their character. I love working with pet owners who share that same love for animals that I do, and because of that, I have met some amazing people (and their pets) throughout my career.”

Dr. Wynn’s love of animals brought her to the University of Kentucky, where she majored in Animal Sciences. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Auburn. “While I loved Alabama, I bleed blue, and my heart has always been in Kentucky.”

Dr. Wynn thoroughly enjoys all aspects of practicing veterinary medicine but has a particular affinity for veterinary dentistry. Dental disease prevention and treatment represent a large portion of the practice’s focus, given the prevalence of periodontal disease in pets.

Dr. Wynn is married to her high school sweetheart, Derrick, and together they have two sons, Asher and Liam, and a Golden Retriever named Ellie.

“I love being around people that I genuinely enjoy working with but watching pets and families grow is by far the best part about this job. Getting to know families and being a small part of their pet’s journey is extremely rewarding. I’ll always be a small-town girl from Appalachia, getting to live out my dream.”
